π Frequently Asked Questions – The Bridal Affair
General Questions
Do I need an appointment to try on wedding dresses?
Yes, we work by appointment so every bride receives our full attention and a personal, relaxed experience.
Booking an appointment means we can prepare for your visit, offer private fitting space and guide you through the collection with care. You can book your appointment using the Book An Appointment button on our website.
How long does a bridal appointment last?
Our standard new bridal appointments last around 90 minutes, giving you plenty of time to relax, explore our collections and enjoy the experience without feeling rushed.
Off-the-Peg appointments are available for 60 minutes.
When should I start shopping for my wedding dress?
We recommend starting your bridal journey around 9–12 months before your wedding day where possible.
Most designer wedding dresses take several months to be created and delivered, and you will also need time for fittings and any final adjustments before your wedding.
If your wedding is sooner, please don’t worry. We may still be able to help with quicker delivery options or Off-the-Peg gowns.
What wedding dress sizes do you have in store?
At The Bridal Affair, every bride is celebrated. We hold a beautiful range of bridal sample gowns in store from approximately bridal size 6–28, giving brides the chance to try on real dresses across a wide range of sizes.
Our Curvy Bridal selection begins from around bridal size 16 upwards, with carefully chosen gowns designed to offer comfort, structure, support and confidence for curvier brides.

Some designers may offer smaller or larger sizes to order, depending on the style and collection. However, not every dress is available in every size, and sample sizes can vary between designers and individual gowns.
If you would like to check whether we have particular styles or sample sizes available before booking, please contact us. We will always be happy to guide you honestly and help you feel prepared for your appointment.
Is The Bridal Affair accessible for brides and guests?
Yes. The Bridal Affair is designed to be welcoming and accessible for brides and guests. We offer level access to the ground floor, an accessible toilet and a stairlift to our first-floor Bridal Studio.
If you or one of your guests has any access, mobility or sensory needs, please let us know when booking. We will do everything we can to make your visit comfortable, relaxed and enjoyable.

Booking & Purchasing
How do I book a bridal appointment?
You can book your appointment online using the Book An Appointment button on our website.
You are also welcome to call us directly or send us a message if you have any questions before booking. Once your appointment is confirmed, we will help you feel prepared for your visit.
Can I bring guests to my appointment?
Yes, we love welcoming your nearest and dearest. You are invited to bring up to 4 guests to share the experience with you.
We recommend choosing the people whose opinions you trust most — those who will make you feel supported, confident and relaxed throughout your appointment.
Can I create a Wishlist before my appointment?
Yes, and we highly recommend it. You can browse our bridal collection online, save your favourite gowns and send your Wishlist to us before your appointment.
Your Wishlist helps us understand your style and gives your appointment a more personal starting point. It does not need to be perfect — it simply helps us see whether you are drawn to classic, romantic, modern, fitted, floaty, detailed or understated styles.
Can I make a day of my bridal appointment in Easingwold?
Yes, many brides choose to make their visit to The Bridal Affair part of a special day out. Easingwold has lovely cafés, independent shops and a weekly Friday Market, making it ideal for enjoying coffee, lunch or a relaxed wander before or after your appointment.
If you are visiting on a Friday, we recommend allowing a little extra time to arrive and park, as the town can be busier on market day.
What happens when I find my wedding dress?
Once you’ve found your dream gown, you have two options:
Option 1: Holding Deposit (if you’d like time before ordering)
If you would like a little more time before ordering, we can take a £250 non-refundable holding deposit. This reserves your chosen gown and allows us to keep your details on file so we can advise on ordering timelines, current pricing and availability. When you are ready to order, we will move to the next stage.
Option 2: Order Your Gown (made-to-order)
When you are ready, or if your timeline requires it, we will take your measurements, confirm all details and place your made-to-order dress with the designer. A 50% deposit is required to confirm your order. The remaining balance is due on collection, within 30 days of us notifying you that your gown has arrived and is ready to collect from the boutique.
Do you offer Off-the-Peg or sale wedding dresses?
Yes, we offer a dedicated Off-the-Peg collection with dresses ready to take home from the boutique. You can browse our current Off-the-Peg dresses online and use filters such as approximate high street size, style, designer, fabric and shape before booking your appointment.
What should I expect at my bridal appointment?
Your appointment begins with a relaxed conversation about your wedding plans, venue, personal style and how you would love to feel on the day.
From there, we will help you explore dresses that suit your shape, style and wedding vision. You can also read our full guide to what happens during your visit, how to prepare and how we help you find the dress that feels right.

Alterations & Fittings
What if my measurements change before my wedding?
Bodies can change during wedding planning for many reasons, and we are here to help you plan with care.
Your stylist can guide you towards designs that offer more flexibility, and we will help you think about the best measuring and fitting timeline. We do not focus on numbers — we focus on helping you achieve the best fit, comfort and confidence for your wedding day.
When should I book my bridal fittings?
We suggest booking your fittings once we have given you an estimated delivery date for your dress.
As a general guide, fittings usually begin around 8–12 weeks before your wedding, where time allows. Most brides need two to three appointments to achieve the final fit. Ideally, your dress should be completed around 2–6 weeks before your wedding day.
Accessibility & Comfort
Can you support access, mobility or sensory needs?
Of course. The Bridal Affair is a friendly and inclusive boutique designed to welcome every bride.
We offer level access to the ground floor, an accessible toilet, calm private spaces and a stairlift to our first-floor Bridal Studio. If you or one of your guests has any access, mobility or sensory needs, please let us know when booking so we can make your visit as comfortable and relaxed as possible.
What should I wear to my bridal appointment?
Wear something comfortable and easy to change in and out of.
Comfortable underwear is ideal, and a strapless bra can be helpful if you already have one. Nude or light-coloured underwear can also work well under lighter fabrics.
If you have shoes similar in height to what you may wear on your wedding day, you are welcome to bring them, but it is not essential.
What if I feel nervous about trying on wedding dresses?
It is completely normal to feel nervous before your first bridal appointment, especially if you are unsure what will suit you or if you have had difficult shopping experiences in the past.
Please know that you are in safe hands. Our appointments are supportive, honest and relaxed. We will never rush you or pressure you. Our role is to help you feel confident, comfortable and beautifully yourself.
Accessories & Styling
Do you stock veils, shoes and accessories?
Yes, we offer a beautiful selection of bridal accessories, including veils, headpieces, belts, shoes and jewellery to complement your gown.
Your stylist will help you explore finishing touches that work beautifully with your dress and your overall wedding style.
Can I bring my own accessories to try with the gowns?
Absolutely. You are welcome to bring your own shoes, veil, jewellery or meaningful accessories to try with the gowns during your appointment.
If you already have something special you would like to wear on your wedding day, please bring it with you so we can help you imagine the full look.

Policies & Care
Can I cancel or change my order once it’s placed?
Because each made-to-order gown is ordered especially for you, orders cannot be cancelled or refunded once confirmed.
We will go through all details carefully before placing your order, including style, size, colour, measurements, pricing and expected timescales, so you feel confident before confirming.
How should I store my gown once it arrives?
Your gown will come in a breathable garment bag. Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, moisture and strong odours until your wedding day.
We will advise you when your gown arrives and help you understand the next steps for fittings, storage and collection.
Do you offer advice on dieting, medication, or body changes?
No, we do not provide medical, dieting or weight-loss advice.
Our role is to help you choose the right gown and plan your ordering and fitting timeline so your dress fits beautifully for your wedding day. If you have any concerns about sizing, fit or timing, please speak to us — we are here to support you with kindness and practical guidance.
