Within that range there are options across different silhouettes, fabrics and styles, from clean contemporary dresses to romantic lace gowns, structured bridal dresses and designs with more detailed embellishment.
Our collections are deliberately chosen to cover different price points rather than placing every bride into one particular part of the market.

At the other end of our collections, designers including Donna Salado Bridal Couture and Eva Lendel offer gowns for brides wanting to explore more premium bridalwear.
The important point is that you don’t need to decide that you are a “£1,500 bride” or a “£3,000 bride” before you’ve even tried a dress on.
It is far more useful to know what you would ideally like to spend and, importantly, the maximum amount you would genuinely be comfortable paying if you found the right dress.
Why Do Wedding Dress Prices Vary So Much?
Wedding dress prices can initially seem confusing because two gowns can look quite similar in a photograph and yet have very different price tags.
A large part of that difference can be found in the fabric and construction.

There should never be any embarrassment about having a budget.

Can I Find a Wedding Dress for Under £1,000 Near York?
Yes.

A larger budget opens up different options rather than necessarily giving you a “better” wedding dress.
You may begin to see more specialist fabrics, more complicated construction, distinctive designer styling, dramatic skirts and trains, or features such as detachable overskirts and other interchangeable elements.

For some brides, these dresses offer exactly what they have been looking for. For others, a £1,300 dress may feel far more like them than a £3,000 gown ever could.
That is why we don’t believe in starting an appointment with the assumption that moving up in price must mean moving closer to the right dress.
When Should I Decide My Wedding Dress Budget?
Ideally, have a rough figure in mind before your first serious bridal appointment.
It doesn’t need to be an exact amount.
Saying, “I’d ideally like to stay around £1,500 but I could go to £1,800 for the right dress,” gives us much more useful information than feeling that you need to name one fixed number.
It allows us to introduce you to different options without putting you in the uncomfortable position of falling in love with something significantly beyond what you actually want to spend.
Your budget should also take into account alterations and any accessories you already know you would like.
Your Budget Will Always Be Respected
If you tell us that you would like to keep your wedding dress within a particular budget, we will always focus on dresses that sit comfortably within it.
We know how easy it is to fall in love with a gown before checking the price, which is why we take your budget seriously from the beginning of your appointment.
If we genuinely feel that a particular dress just above your stated budget could be especially right for you, we may mention it. However, we will always tell you the price first and there will never be any pressure to try it on, stretch your budget or consider purchasing it if you are not comfortable with the cost.
This is also one of the reasons we discourage brides and their guests from simply choosing dresses randomly from the rails during an appointment.
Although it can be tempting to browse through the gowns and pull out anything that catches your eye, the dress being chosen may be significantly above the budget you have already asked us to work within. It may also be the wrong size, unavailable to order or simply not suitable for the things we have already learnt about what you are looking for.

Should I Include Alterations in My Wedding Dress Budget?
Yes.
This is one of the costs that can easily be forgotten when brides first decide how much they are going to spend.
The price of the wedding dress itself would not normally include alterations because the work required is different for every bride and every gown.
Even if a dress is very close to your measurements, some alteration is usually needed to achieve the finished fit. The hem may need changing, straps could need adjusting or the bodice may require some work.
More extensive alterations or personalised changes will naturally cost more.
Because alteration costs vary, it is sensible not to spend your absolute maximum budget on the dress itself if that would leave nothing available for fitting and alterations afterwards.

What Else Should Be Included in My Bridalwear Budget?
Your wedding dress is usually the largest part of the bridalwear budget, but it may not be the only part.

Usually, we wouldn’t recommend it.

The danger isn’t simply that you might fall in love with the expensive dress.
You can also end up comparing every subsequent dress with something using completely different fabrics, construction or detailing, making otherwise beautiful gowns within your real budget harder to judge fairly.
This is another reason why we prefer to guide the selection of dresses during your appointment rather than encouraging everyone to browse the rails and choose at random.
If we think a dress outside your stated budget is genuinely worth considering, we will tell you why and, most importantly, tell you the price before it ever comes off the rail.

Is a More Expensive Wedding Dress Better Quality?
Price can tell you something about the materials, construction, manufacturing and level of hand-finishing in a dress, but it cannot tell you whether that gown is going to be the right wedding dress for you.

A bride may arrive expecting to prefer the most expensive designer in the boutique and discover that the dress she feels incredible in costs hundreds of pounds less.
Another bride may discover that the particular construction, fabric or styling she loves naturally takes her towards a higher price point than she originally expected.
